Snake is joined by long time friends John Thirkell and Mark Creswell. John Thirkell is one of Britain’s top trumpet and flugelhorn players. Bruno Mars ‘Uptown Funk’ was his 22nd UK no.1 His tours include Swing Out Sister, Lisa Stansfield, Jamiroqui & Buddy Rich.
The 3 met at Music College & have been friends ever since. Mark Creswell, virtuoso guitarist makes a welcome return to the Snake family for this trio. Together they play beautiful tunes, jazzy, emotional, moving, The choice of material reflects a collective love of strong and moving melodies.
In the decades since we were all at Leeds College of Music together, the three of us have been fortunate enough to enjoy successful and varied careers in the music industry.
A mixture of the old and the new, with the odd original thrown in, we have tried to create beautiful, mellow music infused with jazz, soul and pop.

Following on from the success of the Classic Sax Solos show and first album, this second album covers those tracks most requested by fans and audience members. All performed with great sensitivity to the original as a mark of respect to the great saxophone players who performed on them.
A truly incredible album with all the hits from the Classic Sax Solo tour. Includes a booklet giving information on the original saxophonist as well as a little bit about each tune. Not only is this a brilliantly entertaining piece of work, it highlights just how incredible Mr Davis is.
Includes Baker Street, Parker's Mood, Just The Way You Are, Respect, Yakety Yak, A Million Love Songs and many many more.
We humbly offer these recordings with love and respect for the original artists. Birchy, Bryan, Gareth and Simon did an absolutely outstanding job on this album. Their commitment to this project and their intense hard work has been inspiring.
It was very hard to narrow the choice down, there are just so many crackers out there. What is it that makes them classics, revered and remembered? It's such a subjective decision, and they are so very different from each other. Some go straight for your heartstrings, some grab you by the scruff of the neck, and some hit you in the stomach. We managed to get 22 solos in - some of our versions are very short, but we only slashed so we could cover more ground.
All musicians learn from the great players who went before them, ad always have done. Each of these solos is a mini masterclass on some aspect of sax playing.
Released in 2013. This album showcases the awesome talents of Snake Davis on saxes and wood flute, Paul Birchall on keyboards, Simon Goulding on basses and Alastair Thynne on drums.
Beautiful renditions of Purple Rain, Human Nature and McCartney's Maybe I'm Amazed as well as other classics and self penned tunes. A fabulous introduction to an extraordinary live band.
